Region 2 is one of 18 Regions that comprise the Arabian Horse Association. We were organized in 1976 as a 501c5, not-for-profit, California Corporation. Our geographical territory is central California. Our borders extend from the Salinas area in the North to the San Fernando Valley in the South and from the Pacific Ocean on the West to the California/Nevada border in the East. AHA Region 2 Youth College and Barn Tour
Sunday, September 13th, 2026
Join us for a tour of Cal Poly SLO campus and Equine Center followed by a tour of Freewill Farm at Varian Equestrian Center!
- 10 AM guided tour of Cal Poly SLO Equine Center (~ 1 hour)
- Self guided group walking tour of Cal Poly SLO general campus (~ 2 hrs)
- Guided tour of Freewill Farm at Varian Equestrian Center (in Arroyo Grande)

All tours are FREE for Arabian Horse Association Region 2 Youth Members.
It is FREE to join AHA Region 2 for first time youth members!
If you are a youth and not a member, the day is $10.
(Adult guardians are welcome to come, no membership or fee required.)

2026 Rose Parade
Multiple Region 2 Arabian Horse Association members participated in the 2026 Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA on January 1st.
Despite the rain it was a huge success . The Arabians were perfect parade horses and everyone had a blast.

Region 2 Director’s Message
Welcome to our first newsletter of 2026! We hope that you plan to spend time with us in beautiful Santa Barbara in June. This year’s show will be one for the history books! There is a more detailed update about the show later in the newsletter.
We also have more Nationals winners to feature. Thank you to everyone who sent in photos! If you have a fun memory with your horse that you want featured, email it over!
I look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show in February.

2024 Region 2 Championship Endurance Ride Results!
Region 2 recently had their 2024 Championship Endurance Ride on October 28th with 5 starters and 4 finishers.

Congratulations to the Region 2 Youth Judging Team!
They recently competed at the 2024 U.S. Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Region 2 team placed 5th in every AHA Jr Team division!
In addition, Marley placed 1st in Reasons Performance and 10th in Performance Placings.
We would like to thank the Region 2 Board, local clubs and all those who donated to make this trip possible.

Don and Carol Hirons Memorial Trophy Awarded for the first time!

Local equestrian enthusiasts Don and Carol Hirons’s impact and memory lives on in a new memorial trophy bearing their names. The Central Coast of California Arabian Horse Association (CCCAHA) took up the reins to develop this trophy to honor the legacy of these two founding members. The Don and Carol Hirons Memorial Trophy was recently awarded by the CCCAHA to its first recipient, Mikaela Hardesty.
